As Page Jaunes or the Yellow Pages in the UK, is a BIG website Google is frequently referencing it and therefore if you are a small business it is quite likely that a search for your business or your type of business will show up higher in Google search results as a Pages Jaunes result than your actual business website.
Here’s three screenshots which explain:
Search for Bricomarché: It’s a big national brand so no surprise that their bespoke website is the first result. A combination of money spent and the amount of people searching for them.. and the first result is their advert :) Pagesjaunes.fr is still the second “natural” google result.
Search for dentiste allemans: and all the results are provided by directories on the first page of google’s organic search. Pages Jaunes is the first result, as a result of their spend on SEO and the number of people who click on Page Jaunes… Perhaps none of the dentists in Allemans ( I think there is only one!) have a website so there are no personalised results.
Search for Duras Optique: Pages Jaunes is the second result, the business has a website http://durasoptique.wix.com/duras-optique but this doesn’t appear until the second page of results. However…check out the result on the top right – this is because Duras Optique has registered their business on Google. This is free and is a brilliant way to appear at the top of Google search results but only works if someone is searching for the specific name of your business … I could go on at length but basically it’s definitely worth registering your business on Google which you can do here: https://www.google.com/business/
